I am glad to know that the Nippon Vedanta Kyokai will be celebrating the 134th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on the 4th August at Tokyo. A special issue of the bi-monthly Japanese magazine, 'Universal Gospel' will be brought out to commemorate the event, it is learnt.

　　As days pass by, more and more people of different walks of life are coming to understand the greatness of Swami Vivekananda and his message. Celebration of this type will help further the cause for which Swami Vivekananda lived and worked. I hope the pious and thoughtful Japanese people will amply benefit from this function, where eminent scholars are expected to take part.

　　I pray to Swamiji for his blessings to be bestowed on all those who have worked for the celebration as well as for the publication of the special issue of 'Universal Gospel' and wish the same a grand success.

　日本ヴェーダーンタ協会が、８月４日、東京で第１３４回スワミ・ヴィヴェーカーナンダ生誕記念日祝賀会を催す、ときいて嬉しく思います。これを記念して、隔月刊行の会誌「不滅の言葉」の特集号が発行されるとききました。

　日がたつにつれて、人生さまざまの分野の、ますます多くの人びとが、スワミ・ヴィヴェーカーナンダの偉大さと彼のメッセージを理解するようになっています。このような祝賀会はさらに、スワミ・ヴィヴェーカーナンダがそのために生き、働かれた使命の成就を助けるでしょう。私は、すぐれた学者たちも協力されるこの催しによって、信仰深く思慮深い日本人が、ゆたかな恩恵を受けるであろうことを期待します。

　祝賀会の挙行および特集号の発行のために働いた人びとに彼の祝福を与えられるよう、スワミジーに祈り、それらすべての成功を希望します。
